Hey you!
During the disastrous year of 2020, we often coped with nostalgia. From The Office to Zoey 101, casts from popular TV shows and movies reunited in 2020 to bring a moment of joy to their fans.
Giving myself permission to find joy in these reunions was a struggle. Even as the cast of one of my favorite childhood shows reunited, Lizzie McGuire, I found it hard to “allow” myself to watch it.
I had this warped sense of adulthood like it was a constant battle to see who could enjoy life less. Whoever dies with the most hemorrhoids wins. Work, work, work, work, work—but not in a fun, Rihanna-type of way.
But, being an adult doesn’t mean saying no to joy. In fact, adulthood is about being honest to yourself about what truly brings you joy and holding onto it for as long as possible.
Days later, I went back to that Lizzie McGuire table read and laughed so hard when Hilary Duff said her iconic line, “I want a bra! Okay? A bra!”
I hope these links bring you knowledge, compassion, and above all--joy!
